Making a Difference

This has been one of those kinds of weeks here locally. Lots of heartbreak and pain. So many things we just don’t understand, and the truth is we are not meant to understand. Young husband and father lost. Young son lost. A child lost. And those who have lived long lives have been lost. These are heartbreaking losses for sure. Some of them just defy understanding. But, as I said, we are not meant to understand everything that happens in our world. What we are meant to do is to lean on the Father in these times. And to lean on His kids that surround us in our pain.

God says in His Word in John 14, “Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go there to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me, so that where I am, there you may be also.” Those words are so comforting. We know that He is preparing that place for us and He will come and take us home with Him one day.

But the thing to remember is that there is only one way. In that same chapter, Jesus states, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” There is no other way to live eternity with the Savior than through belief and acceptance of the Son. The acceptance of His gift of forgiveness of sins, and an eternal life with Him, plus the Holy Spirit to walk with us daily is an amazing thing!

In Revelation, John writes, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; there will be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying. Neither shall there be any pain, for all the the former things are passed away.” Man! Does that not sound amazing! Does that not sound like a wonderful eternity!

All the sorrow and sadness we are going through now will all pass away as we stand in the presence of the Savior! What a promise! A promise that can be made true in your life, if you will trust Jesus as your personal Savior and allow Him to be Lord of your life. He is not a demanding God. He says Himself that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. If you haven’t put your trust in the One True God, the Savior, and the Creator of all things, don’t let another minute pass by. As we have seen this week, we do not know which breath will be our last. Don’t wait too late. Accept Him now. It will make a difference!
