Like most of us, I have had lots on my mind lately. Things just seem to grow more difficult daily. I have probably heard more people lately say they are ready for Jesus’ return than I have ever heard in my life. And, honestly, so many things we are seeing around us point toward the signs of the end of time. If you are Christians, you can talk amongst yourselves for a second. If you have not yet given your life to Jesus and made that commitment to follow and trust Him, I am here to tell you that Jesus is coming and He is coming sooner, rather than later. You may not have tomorrow!
When I was a kid and we lived at Woodrow, where my daddy was the preacher, there was this kid named Richard Don. He went to our church at Woodrow. I know I have told this story before, but it bears repeating. Richard Don was a year older than me. They were at church all the time. But I knew that Richard Don had not yet given his heart to Jesus. One Sunday morning, as I was praying for that very thing during the invitation hymn, Richard Don walked the aisle! He was giving his heart to Jesus! I was so excited. We sat around the table at lunch after church and in my best elementary kid voice, I announced to the family that Jesus could now go ahead and plan His return because Richard Don was saved and, in my world, He was the last one on my list that needed to know Jesus. Richard Don was in. God could now start the bus toward heaven!
Well, here I am some 54ish years later and I live in a world where I am surrounded by Richard Dons! I have so many people within my circle that have not yet committed their lives to Jesus. He can never come if I don’t get busy! And this is the burden I live with. I need everyone I love to come to know the Savior or we can’t ever get out of this mess we have created around us!
God has placed people in our lives for a reason. That reason is to be very sure they know the Savior as their personal Savior. It is not enough to know about Him or to believe that He exists. The devil knows He exists! We each have to come to that moment of recognizing that we need Him living in our lives. We need Him as the King of our hearts. We need Him as the Guide for our lives each day.
Let me ask you again, are you one of the Richard Dons in my life? Do you need to know Jesus as your personal Savior? Send me a message. I would be glad to visit with you. If you do know Him, what are you doing to reach the world around you? It is your responsibility. Offer those in your circle the Savior. Offer them the One. The only One who can make a difference in their lives. Do it today. If we have learned anything this year, it is that we simply do not have any idea what tomorrow holds.
Make a difference for someone today.
