It has been a tough few weeks locally. So much unnecessary loss of life. So many that felt, at the end, they simply had no hope. Absolutely heartbreaking. I have had some very tough days in my life, but I always knew there was hope. And it just breaks my heart that so many do not know that hope, or even where to find it.
We have suicide awareness days, and events, numbers to call, and all the things. And I think those are all great, so do not misunderstand me as I speak to you. Those are all wonderful and serve a great purpose. But the problem I see is with us. God’s people.
I just have felt my heart so burdened lately that we, as Christians, are not doing nearly enough to share what we have and the hope that is ours. If you had the cure for cancer in a jar at your house, would you just leave it there and tell no one? No! You would share it! When you find out a new baby is coming to your family, or that someone is getting married, any good news, you share it immediately! Then, why is it so hard for us to share the true Good News? Why do we find it so difficult to reach out to our world with the cure for what ails it?
Just a quick scripture search for peace gives you these:
John 16:33 ~ I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
2 Thessalonians 3:16 ~ Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.
Isaiah 26:3 ~ You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Matthew 5:9 ~ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
John 14:27 ~ Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Colossians 3:15 ~ And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
Oh, my friends! We are called to share this peace that we have. How many more have to die needlessly before we will take seriously the mission to which we have been called? There are so many out there who do not know where to turn. You have the answer. We must be intentional about sharing this great gift that we have.
And if you are reading this, and you have no clue what I am talking about, find someone you know who loves Jesus! Find me! Do not rest another day without knowing that peace that can be yours through the Savior. It is not peace, as the world gives. It is peace in the midst of troubled waters. It is peace in the midst of heartbreak. It is peace that, as the Savior says, “has overcome the world.”
Share that peace with someone today. Please, be someone who makes a difference!
