It has been so hot! I heard a song about hot weather, and there is a line in it that says, “I saw a dog chasing a cat, and they were both walking.” Now that is hot! As I have gotten older, I have found that I am not a huge fan of hot weather, but I am usually pretty content with whatever weather we are having. It all changes quickly enough. As they say, if you don’t like today’s weather, just wait until tomorrow! It is always changing.
So many things in life change so quickly. I have been thinking about the folks in Ruidoso and the area that lost so much so quickly in the fires. Lives changed in just a matter of minutes. Car accidents, or any other accident can be the same way. What was true a minute ago, is suddenly no longer true. We are left to deal with the sudden, tragic changes around us. It can be overwhelming.
The good news is this. We serve a very good God who never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In these very trying and troubling times, it can be hard to imagine that God is even still around or that He cares. But trust me when I say, yes He is still here, and yes, He does care. My daddy always explained it to me like this, God set the world in motion and things happen both good and bad. Certainly, God does have the power to start or stop things, but the world is in motion and life goes on. What happens in the challenges is that we, as Christians, grow stronger in our faith and our trust as we learn to take just one more step. Even when things are so hard to understand, we have to trust in the One who created all things. We have to trust that He is walking beside us, even carrying us through whatever we are facing.
In Isaiah 46:3, it states, “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” What a wonderful promise from God! Isn’t that just a beautiful verse about the caring character of our amazing Father! When life is challenging you, remember His promise to be with you. When the tears begin to fall, remember His promise to rescue you. When you feel like you are at the end of your rope, remember His promise to sustain you. You have no other one who loves you like our Heavenly Father.
If you are struggling with all the changes going on around you, lean into the Father. He is right there for you. He wants to wipe away your tears. He is all you need. Oh trust in Him today! It will make a difference.
