Making a Difference

Sometimes when I get ready to write, I have to stare at a blank screen for quite a while before inspiration hits. I have stared at this screen today for about 10 minutes! I was thinking that God probably likes a blank screen. Maybe that gives Him space for His words instead of mine. I like to think that most of the time, when I write, the words are His. I certainly feel like they are, anyway. But today is a blank screen day.

Our lives are all blank screens for each day. Days that can be open to be what God has in mind. Or days where we take control and look back to see if God is still back there with us somewhere. I have been waking up each morning for some time now with the intent to give my first 15 minutes to God. I listen to His Word on podcasts, or I listen to an audio Bible, or I talk and listen to Him. I have to tell you it has made a difference. When I intentionally start the day with Him, my blank screen begins to fill with His plans and His thoughts, and His heart. Oh to have a heart like His on a daily basis!

Giving the first portion of your day to God is like tithing. We are told in the Bible that we are to give the first 10 percent of our income to God. But it is not just our money from which He wants us to tithe. He wants a tithe of our time, our talents, our thoughts, our walk. Everything about us should be something that can be used by God in one way or another. Giving Him the “first fruits,” as it says in the Bible, can make a wonderful difference in your life. My mother always said you could never out give God. What you give to Him will return to you, again as the Bible says, “shaken together, pressed down, and running over.” He desires the best for us. He really and truly does!

When you have a creator that wants the best for you, why would you not give Him the first part of your day? Or the best part of anything in your life? We have seen lately a huge stirring of His Spirit among our athletes. Nearly every single day, I see another pro athlete rising up to boldly speak the name of Jesus in front of everyone. To boldly declare that the outcome of the games is nothing compared to the joy of living within God’s plan for our lives speaks a huge message to those watching.

Are you ready to stand before God with a blank screen? Are you ready to ask Him to just take control of the day and lead you where He wants you to go? Stand boldly before the Lord today and open your hands and give Him your day. Let Him type the words on your screen.

Give Him your heart. Give Him your life. Give Him complete control. And be ready to be blessed! It will make a difference!
