Making a Difference

I saw a quote recently that said, “God did not give us the book of Revelation so we would build bomb shelters in our backyard. He gave us the book so we would build bigger dinner tables and invite our friends over to tell them about Jesus.” I like that thought.

We are not meant to just be to ourselves and take care of our own. God put us here as His children to care for those around us. We know the end will come one day. I do not have any way of knowing if Jesus will return in my lifetime or not. But I know He is coming one day. I don’t really have a clue what it will look like for the believer or the non-believer, but I know I will be standing with the believers. I see lots posted on social media about how the return of Jesus is getting closer. Well, we know it isn’t getting any further away! But, I don’t know when it will be. I know there are things being fulfilled that we were warned about, but how far away is this return? Anyone that gives you a date or time is flat making it up! But the fact is, we do know it is coming.

So, as Christians, we need to be spreading the knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus with those around us. We don’t need to sit at home and rest knowing we have our family safe. We need to, as the quote says, build bigger tables and invite others in so we can share Jesus with them. We have to be much more intentional than we are about sharing the Christ with the world.

I know we are living in very changing times. So much is so different now than when I was a kid. So many more tempting choices out there. So many words that counter what we have been taught was right and true. This is why we have to step up and be bold in what we know to be true. We have to have the courage to stand for what is right even if we find ourselves standing alone. And we have to build bigger dinner tables and share with others what Jesus has done for us!

How will you share Jesus today? Ask yourself that question each day when you start your day. How will you show the world what Jesus has done for you today? Instead of asking your children how their day at school was, ask them how they showed their school Jesus. Get them thinking about it every single day. It is why we are here. It is what we are meant to do!

Share Jesus today. It will make a difference!
