Acts 22:15-16 says, “For you will be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard. And now, why do you delay?”
This verse has been heavy on my mind this week. It doesn’t say we have a choice to be a witness for Him. The truth is, as Christians, we are either a good witness or a bad witness, but we will be a witness, one way or the other. No question.
If we are to be witnesses for Him of what we have seen and heard, then what have you seen and heard? I was talking to someone yesterday who was saying a friend of hers doesn’t even know the most basic of Bible stories. That is a problem.
When my sister lived in California, and her brother in law was dying with cancer, they asked her to ask me to pray because I was the Christian they knew. All the way from California, I was THE Christian they knew. That is a problem.
There are around 9,000 people in this town. On Sunday morning, there are less than 1,000 people attending our churches. That is a problem.
How is the world going to ever be a witness for Him of all they have seen and heard, when they have not even seen or heard? This just scares me to death. I don’t want anyone I know to die without knowing Jesus, and I don’t want anyone I know to live without knowing Jesus.
We have got to become more intentional about being the people God has called us to be. We have to start looking with God’s eyes at the world around us. We have to step out and stand up and be bold in our witness for Him. It will take all of us to reach this dying world around us. We just have to be about the Master’s business.
The last part of that verse asks the question, “And now, why do you delay?” What is your answer? Why are you waiting to tell someone about what God has done in your life? They need to know the Gospel according to You! The stories about what God has done for you personally. We all have those stories. We have to get up each day expecting God to work. We can’t just be content with praying for those around us. We have got to be a part of the plan. And we have to start now!
If you will be a witness for Him of all you have seen and heard, then why are you waiting? Step out now. It will make a difference!
