Lorene Minyard, a resident of Brownfield, Texas left this life, and entered into the next in Snyder, Texas on Monday November 21, 2016 at the age of 87 years and 23 days. She was born in Sardis, Oklahoma on October 28, 1929 to George and Rena (McIntyre) Wilkins. Lorene Wilkins married her sweetheart Travis Lee Minyard in Bennington, Oklahoma on March 11, 1947.
Lorene was affiliated with The Gospel Church. She enjoyed working with her hands crocheting, and sewing. Traveling was something she like to do whenever she could, experiencing new places, and revisiting familiar ones. She could often be found outside lovingly tending to her garden. Lorene looked forward all family gathering, and making delicious meals for those she loved, recently teaching her grandson, Dylan to make fudge.
Mrs. Minyard is survived by her daughters, Glenda Dryer of Brownfield, Texas and Helen Grimes of Snyder, Texas; son, Jesse Minyard of Bennington, Oklahoma; sister, Jewell Rodgers and husband Bill of Missouri; brothers, Jim Williams and wife Judy of Kansas and Jerry Wilkins and wife Lila of Mississippi; sister-in-law, Glenda Wilkins of Kansas; 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and many loving nieces, and nephews.
Mrs. Minyard was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rena Wilkins; husband, Travis Minyard (2004); sisters, Nona and Ada; and brothers, Leon, Jay, Dale and Harold.
Family hour will be from 6-7:00 PM Friday, November 25th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Graveside Service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 26th at the Jackson Cemetery Pavilion in Bennington, Oklahoma with Bro. Jerry Wilkins officiating.
