A fan favorite at the Fort Worth & Houston Livestock Shows & Rodeos has Terry County connections!
It’s Rodeo Season! Can you feel it, see it, and taste it? One of the most nostalgic flavors we look forward to year after year at the Fort Worth and Houston stock shows and rodeos is the infamous, rich, creamy, and delicious Stubby’s Cinnamon Rolls. At TownTalk Media, we recently realized that we are not only fans but also extended family (if you will) of the operator of Stubby’s Cinnamon Rolls, Tom Grace. Tom is the father-in-law of Lajuana’s (our president) son! What a small world!

After hearing that Stubby’s, along with their new sister booth Taco Love, is participating in the Gold Buckle Foodie Competition at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR), we wanted to help. After chatting with Tom, we thought it would be great to share what he has going on at the HLSR and beyond, as well as what’s in store for our favorite cinnamon roll booth.
Tom is kind and hardworking and has served the people of North Texas (and beyond) for over 30 years at events like the aforementioned rodeos as well as the State Fair of Texas (did you try the viral pickle pizza the past few years? That was his booth, Pizza by the Slice!). He also runs catering under the parent company for all of his brands, Tommy G’s Catering and Concessions.
During his decades of service at the State Fair, he made many buddies, including Stubby’s Cinnamon Roll’s creator, Stoney Humphries. When it came time for Stoney to move out of the hustle and bustle of event life, he partnered with Tom to continue on his legacy with him, and Tom took over Stubby’s Cinnamon Rolls at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and the Colorado State Fair. The legacy has been carried on with incredible attention to detail and customer care and has since grown in sales and popularity. The nostalgia and tradition of Stubby’s Cinnamon Rolls are of the utmost importance to Tom, so we can expect decades more of these delicious morsels and more fun in new places!

Now check this out! Did you know that each batch of cinnamon rolls (86 rolls) takes 2 pounds of butter, 4 pounds of sugar, 7 oz of pure cinnamon, and 20 pounds of flour?! No wonder they’re scrumptious!

At Houston Stock Show and Rodeo, Tom and his top-notch team run 7 booths, including Stubby’s Cinnamon Rolls (2 locations), Texas Skillet (and the newest edition this year- Taco Love), and Texas-Sized Pizza/Burger and Chili Shack (3 locations). This year Stubby’s and Taco Love each have an entry in the Gold Buckle Foodie Competition. Voting started Monday, Feb. 17th, and will end Sunday evening, Feb. 23rd… so start voting now!
Taco Love’s entry, the Hippie Cowboy Tacos, is under the Best New Flavor category and features their savory brisket on a pile of melted Oaxaca cheese, topped with their signature Taco Love Elotes Quest Blanco, homemade chipotle ranch and garnished with cilantro, onions & lime wedges. The booth will also feature a mural of everyone’s favorite Hippie Cowboy, so be sure to snap a pic and tag them on Instagram at @tacolovetacos.
This year, Stubby’s submission is under the Best Dessert category. The Caramel Apple Bacon Cinnamon Roll is their original, perfect-as-is cinnamon roll with pieces of apple baked in, topped with crispy crumbled bacon, homemade cream cheese icing, and caramel sauce, and garnished with 2 pieces of hickory smoked bacon and 2 slices of caramel apple wedges!

You can support their booths by voting for these 2 mouth-watering entries at most once per hour until Sunday, as many times as you’d like. All you have to do is click the “heart” for the items on the list in each category (no additional info entry necessary).
Here at TownTalk Media and Ad Venture Marketing, we honestly know how delicious this food is, and we know many stock showgoers from Terry County and the South Plains will be heading down to Houston in March. So make sure you go by these booths which have the BEST food at HLSR, until then please click this link and VOTE here: https://m.cmpgn.page/FFrDDh?sre=2PKWrWCKNJ0nE
