The #14 Brownfield Lady Cubs Volleyball Team began their volleyball playoff journey last night in Kermit when they took on Tornillo in a Class 3A Bi-District game and came out winners in a strong fashion. Brownfield took down Tornillo in a quick three set sweep 25-10, 25-16, 25-11.
Lindsey Herrera led the team in digs with nine and Meriah Gonzalez was next with eight, plus Gabi Fields had six. Deja and Tia Johnson both led the team in kills with eight a piece. Dabria Blackwell had seven and Meriah had six. The Lady Cubs as a team had total of 16 aces of their serves.
Coach Malorie Ellis said, ” This was a nice start to our playoff run. The girls have worked hard up to this point and deserve all the success… we were glad to get the win, now we focus on the next game.” The Lady Cubs will travel over to Lubbock Christian High School on Saturday to take on an old foe Idalou in the Area Round. First serve is at 11:00 a.m.
