Denver City- Juanita Douglas (Whitehead) Shelton, 93, of Denver City, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. Graveside services, with Reverend John McClean officiating, will be held Thursday, November 16, at Denver City Memorial Park at 4:00pm under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
Juanita was born in Roby, Texas to Robert and Maggie Whitehead on November 22, 1923. She married her sweetheart, Holloway Shelton, on November 25, 1941 in Wilbarger County. She was a homemaker and loving wife to her dedicated husband. The two made many wonderful memories spending time with family and traveling throughout the country through the years. They were rarely apart until his death in January of 2011. She is also preceded in death by granddaughter, Kelly Kay McPherson, son in law, Craig McPherson, and daughter in law, Sophia Shelton. She is survived by her son, John Shelton of Dallas, daughter Holly McPherson of Denver City, two granddaughters Kristy Deaton and husband Duff, Maggie Harvey and husband Lee; along with 4 great granddaughters, Kelly-Ann and Klaire Deaton, Karsyn Spicer, and Madison Harvey. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care provided to Juanita by Shinnery Oaks Nursing Home of Denver City. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16th, from 6:00-7:00pm at Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
