Juan “Johnny” Carrillo, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023, at the age of 83. Born on May 23, 1940, Juan was known for his dedication to his family, strong work ethic, and generosity.

Juan, affectionately known as “Johnny,” began his career as a forklift driver at the Brownfield Compress, where he dedicated an impressive 52 years of his life. He retired in 2011, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.

Juan’s love for his family was evident in all that he did. He is survived by his loving wife, Luisa Carrillo; his three children, Rachel Wiesenthal and husband Mark of Meadow, Joe Louise Carrillo and wife Cynthia of Brownfield, and Juan Pablo Carrillo and wife Gayla of Brownfield; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Olala Ramirez. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, and together, they enjoyed visiting his stomping grounds in San Antonio, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and joy.

A devout Catholic, Juan’s faith held a special place in his heart. He faithfully tended to the maintenance of the grounds at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, ensuring that the grass was neatly cut and the surroundings were well-kept.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Modesto and Dominga Ramirez, and two sisters, Dominga Balero and Nancy Dunlap.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, October 6, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father John Ohlig officiating. Burial will follow in the Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

A Rosary will be held at  6 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Brownfield Funeral Home.
