James Franklin Shaver went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He was born on January 22, 1935, to James Frank and Viola Quinney Shaver.
He completed his education in the Stockdale school system, from 1st grade through 12th, and was always a true Stockdale Brahma. After graduating high school, he dove into the world of farming alongside his dad. He spent an impressive 42 years working as a peanut buyer for Birdsong Peanut Company, forging lifelong friendships and etching his mark in the agriculture industry.
A true Mason at heart, James remained active in the Masonic Lodges in Stockdale, Pleasanton, and Jourdanton throughout his life. He cherished the bonds he formed, especially relishing his role as a Masonic Master Mason.
Outside of work and community service, James loved to spend his time in the garden, where he nurtured his passion for growing tomatoes. He poured love into his plants, just as he poured love into his family.
James is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rachel Shaver; children, Jimmy Shaver (Denyse) of Brownfield, Jamie Lambeck (Jeff) of Stockdale, Mary Ann Vontur (Kenneth) of Victoria and Kim Kinnison (Jeff) of Seguin; sister, Mary Pearl Rippstein of Woodsboro; grandchildren, Kenny Vontur, Daphne Lainer, Russell Rafter, Brandon Lambeck, Brad Lambeck and Colton Kinnison; along with 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granchild plus one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margie Murphy; brother-in-law, Rip Rippstein; granddaughter, Lezli Lambeck; and the mother of his children, Ann Shaver Knox.
Services are scheduled for Monday, March 17, 2025, in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel, starting with a visitation at 9:00 am and a funeral service at 10:00 am. A graveside service will be held at 12:15 pm at Steelbranch Cemetery, located about six miles east of Stockdale in sight of FM 1107.
