A traffic accident, right at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, November 30 had traffic blocked and rerouted for several hours on Highway 62/82.
Official reports have not yet been released, but the preliminary details from the scene indicate that a Jeep heading north collided with a tractor heading east.
The tractor was pulling a module builder across the highway. Sources at the scene reported that it appeared that the module builder hung up on the roadway, stalling the tractor across two lanes of northbound traffic.
Sources at the scene stated there were no skid marks or brake marks, indicating that brakes were never applied and the Jeep hit the tractor at full traveling speed.
The accident was worked by Texas DPS, Terry County Sheriff’s Department, TxDOT, and the Meadow Volunteer Fire Department. The accident happened approximately 6.5 miles north of Brownfield at the intersection of CR 270 and 62/82.
Two victims were careflighted to Lubbock. No names have been released at this time. There were no fatalities at the scene, however the injuries were stated to be critical.
