Friday Night Lights!

Last Friday night found all County teams on the field but only one came out on top on the scoreboard in the end. The Wellman-Union Wildcats won a thrilling overtime victory over Whiteface at Wildcat field by a score of 44-42. The Wildcats are riding a three game win streak as they head to O’Donnell this Friday night.

O’Donnell comes in with a 6-1 record and are coming off a big 58-6 win over Morton.

The Meadow Broncos continued their losing streak, losing to powerhouse Borden County last week 61-8. The Broncos are open this week and working on regrouping before facing Whiteface at home on October 30.

The Brownfield Cubs had a tough night against Slaton on Friday, dropping the contest 30-13. Brownfield suffered several fumbles and miscues through the night in the loss.

They will be facing Denver City in a home game this Friday. Denver City will be coming off a close loss to State Ranked Shallowater. The battle of the Mustangs ended in a 44-41 score, with Shally taking home the win.

Brownfield Head Coach Aarrhon Flores was disappointed in the effort in Friday night’s loss to Slaton. “They were not better than us. We just did not keep our heads in the game and finish like we should have. These are some of the things we are working on this week.”

Flores says he knows DC will come in to the game prepared. “We will have to be ready all four quarters and get out there and play hard throughout the game. They are sound defensively, so we will have to limit mistakes.”

DC is big and aggressive, according to Flores, but, “Our quarterback is more mobile and we can create success in this game if we follow the game plan. We are looking for a tough game, but certainly a winnable game.”
