Funeral services for Franz Loewen, age 72 of Denver City, Texas will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with Pastor Isaak Fehr officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole, Texas.
Franz Loewen was born January 21, 1950 in Mexico to Katharina (Klassen) and Franz Loewen, and was baptized May 30, 1971. He married Helena Friesen in Mexico on July 4, 1971 and celebrated fifty wonderful years of marriage as of July 4, 2021. He adored his grandchildren and loved his family dearly; he enjoyed giving his grandchildren tractor rides and always had gum in his pocket for them. He loved the holidays and having his entire family come visit. His passion was ranching, where he and his wife spent most of their time together working on the farm and raising cattle. He also spent many years working in construction. He was a member of Sommerfeld Mennonite Church and enjoyed spending time with his church family. Franz was loved by many and a friend to everyone.
Franz Loewen passed away at his home peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, May 29, 2022. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Helena Loewen of Seminole; four sons, Pete Loewen and wife Tina of Seminole, and John Loewen and wife Becca, George Loewen and wife Trichelle, and Willie Loewen and wife Kristi, all of Abilene, Texas; five daughters, Anna Peters and husband Neil of Lubbock, Texas, Lena Reimer and husband Johnny of Shallowater, Texas, and Eva Loewen and husband Tom, Tina Siemens and husband Jonathan, and Susie Fehr and husband Jake, all of Seminole, Texas; one brother, John Loewen and wife Mary of Canada; seven sisters, Helena Peters and husband Willie, Tina Fehr and husband Jake, Sara Thiessen and husband Abe, and Susan Peters and husband Peter, all of Canada, and Margaret Guenther and husband Cornelius, Lisa Wall and husband Jake, and Mary Friesen and husband John, all of Mexico; and 25 grandchildren.
