TownTalk Media has learned that former Brownfield Regional Medical Center Clinic Director and former Brownfield City Councilman Michael Tackitt has been arrested and charged with “SALE/DISTRIBUTION/DISPLAY HARMFUL MATERIAL TO A MINOR.” Tackitt was arrested without incident on a warrant from Terry County. The arresting agency was the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department. Records show Tackit has a residence in Joshua, Texas, which is in Johnson County.

According to Texas Penal Code § 43.24, selling, distributing, or displaying “harmful material” to a minor is illegal and is typically a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine. However, it can be elevated to a third-degree felony under certain circumstances, like using a minor to commit the offense.

According to the Johnson Co. jail records, Tackitt is still being held with a $2,500 bond. TownTalk Media will bring more information on this as it is made available.
