Damage done to headstones at Meadow Cemetery

by admin

A cemetery should be a place of quiet reflection. A place of peace. A place of sweet memories of loved ones passed. Unfortunately, at the Meadow Cemetery last weekend, it was anything but that.

Someone tore through an area on the north side of the cemetery and knocked headstones off, broke vases and left deep tracks on the grounds.

Sheriff Timothy Click stated that they do have a suspect and will likely be making an arrest soon. This person will face a list of charges, including destruction of property over $2500 and under $30,000, destruction inflicted on human burial site, and duty on striking structure, fixture, or highway landscaping.

A pickup was found abandoned near the scene. A man was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication at that time. The Sheriff’s Department is working to get all information and preparing to make an arrest on the additional charges.

A bumper was also found at the scene with damage that matches the damage done at the cemetery. A license plate was still on the bumper.
