Cross county rivals hit the gridiron tonight

The Meadow Broncos travel this evening to take on their cross-county rival, Wellman-Union. Both the Broncos and the Wildcats have been eliminated from the playoffs. In Class 1A, two teams out each district can get a postseason berth, so tonights game is about county pride.

The Meadow Broncos come into tonights game with a 4-5 record. Coach Guzman early on stated he was looking for some wins this season. Last season the Broncos went 1-8, with their lone win cominThe Meadow Broncos enter tonight’s game with a 4-5 record. Early in the season, Coach Guzman expressed a desire to secure some wins. Last year, the Broncos finished with a disappointing 1-8 record, with their only victory coming against county rival Wellman-Union, where they won 71-53. This season, however, Meadow has significantly improved, achieving four wins and scoring more points. Although the team remains relatively young, their performance has been better overall. Unfortunately, the Broncos are currently on a three-game losing streak, all against district opponents: O’Donnell (88-56), Borden County (56-6), and #3 Whiteface (62-12).g against their county rival, Wellman-Union, 71-53. Fast forward to this season and Meadow has been doing a lot better. Four wins and putting up some points is successful. Coming in this season, the team is still pretty young, but they played better. Unfortunately, the Broncos are on a three-game losing streak, and those come at the hands of their district opponents. O’Donnell: 88-56, Borden County: 56-6, and #3 Whiteface: 62-12.

The Wellman-Union Wildcats are determined to play hard for their seniors this season. With three seniors on the team, they have experienced their share of ups and downs in football over the years. One of the Wildcats’ primary goals coming into this season was to win a game. They entered the season with a record of 0-28, with their last victory dating back to 2020 against Whiteface, where they won 44-42. Fast forward to today, the Wildcats managed to break their 30-game losing streak by defeating Patton Springs 45-0 on September 12th. They followed this up with another win against Hart on September 26th, finishing that game 50-49. This progress is a significant achievement for the team. However, like their cross-county rivals, the Wildcats have yet to win a district game, currently sitting at 0-2 in district play. Their losses in the district have been to Borden County, where they lost 51-0, and to #3 Whiteface, where the score was 68-0.

Tonight’s matchup promises to be exciting. Both teams are evenly matched, and the game should remain competitive until the end.t’s matchup should be a great one. Both teams look equal, and the game should go to the end.
