The Brownfield Fire & Rescue and BRMC EMS were called out around 4:45 pm on Monday, May 15, 2023, to the intersection of County Roads 430 & 505, (East Bynum & North Cedar) to a multi-vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, there were two pickup trucks that had collided. A maroon (1998-2003) Ford F-150 single cab driven by a male was heading north on North Cedar and failed to yield the right away at the East Bynum & North Cedar intersection. The other maroon late model four-door Ford F-150 was traveling through the intersection going east when it was hit (t-boned) on the passenger side. The four-door F-150 would slide into the northeast corner field and would come to rest facing north. The single-cab F-150 would spin around in the intersection and would come to rest facing southeast.
Two ambulances were called to the scene. Brownfield Municipal Judge David Cox was in the four-door F-150 and was transported to a Lubbock hospital with unknown injuries. The man driving the single cab, Daniel Tapia was treated at the scene. Terry County Sheriff’s Dept., Brownfield FRD, BRMC EMS, and TxDPS were on the scene.
