
The Brownfield ISD School Board held a regularly scheduled meeting last night March, 18th, 2019. After the invocation and pledge staff and students were honored.

Student of the Month is Ariel Flores from Brownfield Middle School. BMS Principal Mr. Ontiveros gave the accolades to Ariel with him saying that “she is very sweet, respectful and patient when working with other students. She is a delightful and hardworking young lady, she is that student that gives one hundred percent every day.”

Also getting recognized was the District Spelling Bee participants and winner. those who participated in the Brownfield District Spelling Bee are Abelina Caudillo, Jordan Diaz, Ashlyn Moore, Olivia Perez, & Natalie Reyes. The Winner on the District Spelling Bee was Ashlyn Moore and the runner up was Jordan Diaz. Unfortunately, Ashlyn was unable to attend last nights recognition service, however, she has been invited to compete in the 68th Annual Regional Spelling Bee which will be held on Saturday, March 30th, 2019 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center at 9:00 AM
The board moved to the financials of the school district. BISD CFO Teresa Montemayor told the board that the school district has spent fifty percent of the 2018/2019 budget. Montemayor said, “that’s exactly on target, we are within six months of our year, and that will be a total of $7.9 million.”
Looking at the enrollment numbers as of the 27th week of the 2018/2019 school year the enrollment numbers are BHS – 429, BEC – 27, BMS – 356, Oak Grove – 496, Colonial – 221, and
The meeting went into closed session and nothing was decided, so the meeting was ajourned.
