photo_015539_3851439_1_10453068_20150206Bobbie Joe Williams Sr., 77, of Brownfield, Texas passed away on Jan. 27, 2015. Bobbie was born on July 5, 1937, in Brownfield to Ruth Williams. He served in the US Army for six years in the Korean and Vietnam. He later enlisted in the US Navy for 21 years. After retiring from the military, Bobbie became the commissioner for the Urban Housing Renewal for the City of Chicago for 12 years. Bobbie was active in the Brownfield City Council and was the president of the Wheatley Association. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and building things. Many will miss his life, but his legacy will live forever through his family and close friends. Bobbie was preceded in death by: his mother, Ruth Williams and father. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Elena M. Williams; four children, Delcia Omar (Charles), Tonya Demps (Bunny), Victor E. Pinto, and Bobbie J. Williams Jr. (Shondilyn); 27 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandkids and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at 12 p.m. at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Brownfield, Texas. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held today, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.
