Brownfield Lady Cubs Volleyball

Last week, the Lady Cubs faced a tough challenge, going 0-2 in their matches. They first lost to Compass Academy on Tuesday night with a score of 3-0, which showcased their struggles in both offensive and defensive plays. Following that, they fell to the #17-ranked Denver City team, losing 3-0 again, which left their overall district record at 2-4.

Looking ahead, the Lady Cubs are set to compete against Crane at home tomorrow night, Tuesday, October 14th. This matchup is crucial as it gives them a chance to bounce back and improve their standing. In their previous encounter with Crane earlier in district, the Lady Cubs triumphed in a hard-fought five-set match, demonstrating their resilience and team spirit. Given that this upcoming game will be held at Brownfield, the home-court advantage could increase their chances of sweeping Crane in three sets.

Following the game against Crane, the Lady Cubs will travel to Coahoma on Saturday, October 18th. Coahoma is currently tied for second place with Compass Academy, making this an essential matchup for both teams as they vie for a better position in the district standings. In their last meeting with Coahoma, Brownfield was unable to secure a win, losing in three sets. They will be looking to refine their strategy and performance for a potential turnaround in this rematch.

Current District 3-3A Standing

Wellman-Union Lady Cats Volleyball

The Lady Cats have been on a remarkable winning streak, claiming victory in three consecutive district games. Last week, Wellman-Union faced off against Loop in a crucial district matchup, triumphing in four exciting sets. This win improved their district record to 4-1 and their overall record to 14-13. As a result, they currently sit in second place in their district standings, just behind the leaders.

Looking ahead, the Lady Cats are preparing for a challenging encounter against the district leader, Klondike. They will host the Lady Cougars tomorrow night, Tuesday, October 14th, at their home court. This matchup is particularly significant because if the Lady Cats can pull off an upset against #17 Klondike, they will tie for first place in the district—an achievement that could boost their confidence for the remainder of the season.

Following the critical clash with Klondike, the Lady Cats will travel to Grady on Saturday, October 18th. In their previous encounter with Grady, Wellman-Union delivered an impressive performance, winning in a decisive three-set sweep. The team is focused on replicating that success and continuing their momentum as the season progresses.
