The Brownfield Lady Cubs and Wellman-Union Lady Cats continued their volleyball seasons last week, facing tough competition and gaining valuable court experience.
Brownfield Lady Cubs
The Brownfield Lady Cubs faced two talented opponents in All Saints and Plains. Although Brownfield came up short in both matches, the competition challenged the Lady Cubs and provided valuable opportunities to learn and improve.
The Lady Cubs battled and competed throughout every set, showing determination even when the matches did not go their way. Brownfield will look to build on the lessons learned as the team returns to work and prepares for its next challenge against Abernathy today.

Wellman-Union Lady Cats
The Wellman-Union Lady Cats opened last week with a strong team performance, defeating Post in four sets Tuesday.
After a slow start, the Lady Cats settled into the match, found their rhythm, and began playing cohesive volleyball. Strong communication and teamwork helped Wellman-Union take control and earn the victory with an outstanding all-around performance.
On Saturday, the Lady Cats traveled to Abernathy and showed several positive signs throughout the match. Although Wellman-Union ultimately fell in four sets, the team continued to compete and displayed areas of growth it can build on moving forward.
Across the two matches, the Lady Cats recorded 52 kills and 40 service aces. The week demonstrated what Wellman-Union can accomplish when the team plays together, remains focused and brings consistent energy to the court.
The Lady Cats’ strong play has also earned them statewide recognition. Wellman-Union has cracked the Top 25 and is currently ranked No. 19.
Wellman-Union will enjoy a stretch of home matches this week. The Lady Cats will host Post and the West Texas Tornadoes on Tuesday before welcoming Southcrest on Saturday. The team looks forward to competing in front of its home crowd and building momentum.
