As early voting has begun for the Republican and Democrat Primaries, don’t get this election confused with the upcoming Municipal Elections that take place in the spring. Primary elections take place every other year (even-number of years) and usually take place in late winter in March. Primary elections pertain to County Elected Officials, such as county judges, justice of the peace, county clerks, state district judges, etc. Also, primary elections include state elected officials (governors, state senators, state house reps, etc.) and federal elected officials (President, US senators, US house reps.) Also, these seats pay to run for office. As of 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, there has been 194 early votes, and 23 returned Ballot-By-Mail ballots.
The filing for municipal elected seats ended on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024. Municipal elections are for city councils, school boards, hospital boards, and other municipal taxing entities such as water boards.
