Funeral Services for Chestene Stroud Brownlee Sharbutt, 94, will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel, 505 Austin Street, Levelland, Texas. Interment will follow in the Terry County Memorial Cemetery in Brownfield, Texas. Chestene passed from this life peacefully on April 18, 2022 at 4:06 pm, surrounded by family.
Chestene was born February 23, 1928 in Mount Pleasant, Titus, Texas to Samuel Stroud and Avie Gertrude Cook. On July 26, 1941 she married Johnny Marion Brownlee in Mount Pleasant. Between 1943 and 1946, after the birth of her first daughter, they moved to Brownfield, Texas, where they had 3 more children. For many years, Chestene and Johnny ran the Fashion Shoes store on the square in Brownfield, until Johnny’s death in 1985. She later moved to Levelland, Texas where she married Cecil Lester Sharbutt in 1989.
Chestene is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Brownlee, her husband, Cecil Sharbutt, her daughter Joy Ann Harris and son-in-law Weldon Harris, her daughter Betty Ann Moore and son-in-law Garland Moore, son-in-law Donnie Jonas, and great great granddaughter, Tamara Irene.
Left to cherish her memory are daughter Patricia Kay Johnson (Gene) from Plains, Texas, daughter Johnnie Faye Jonas, Ropesville, Texas, 14 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
