April 15, 1953 – January 18, 2022

On Tuesday, January 18, 2022, Danny Joe Moore was called home at the age of 68. The world has lost a great husband, father, and friend. Danny died peacefully at his home.

Danny was born in Haskell, Texas on April 15, 1953, to Velton and Velva Jo Moore. As the third of six children, Danny began working at a young age to help provide for his family. As a teenager, he worked many different jobs but found his passion in operating heavy equipment.

Danny met his bride, Linda K. Wood, in 1970 and they were married on October 2, 1970. They made their home in Denver City, Texas. Shortly after they were married, Danny enlisted and served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years.

In the early 80’s Danny and Linda, started Danny’s Service Company, an oilfield dirt contracting business. Together, they grew the family business exponentially. Through his hard work and determination, his business survived the booms and the busts of the oilfield. Some of Danny’s first employees remained with Danny’s Service Company up until the time that he sold the business. Danny’s retirement was short lived, and he went on to consult for Apache Corporation and later Admiral Permian Resources.

Even after Danny and Linda moved to Lubbock in 2014, Danny loved Denver City, Texas and always called it his family’s home. While raising his family in Denver City, he served three terms on school board, including serving as board president. He was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Velton and Velva Jo Moore, and by his siblings, Velton Moore, Jr. and Karen Montgomery. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Lubbock; children, Melissa and spouse, Sylvia, of Houston, and Waylon and spouse, Stephanie, of Seagraves; grandchildren, Jackson, Blake, Shabria and spouse, Eric, Candice, Dominque and spouse, Daylon, Shawntel and, spouse, Rolando; great-grandchildren, Aubree, Zechariah, Zayden, Zinleigh, Sa’Myah and Ka’Leah; brothers, Steve Moore and Daniel Moore; and niece, Debbie Montgomery. All held him in the highest regard and loved him dearly. Danny loved his family and cherished all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Danny was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lubbock.
