The Terry County Commissioners met on Monday, morning, December 13 to work a brief agenda.
The biggest item on the agenda was Firework sales. The Court had previously voted to halt all fireworks sales during the period from December 20 – January 1. However, the State of Texas will not allow a county to halt all fireworks sales during this period unless the County is in an Emergency Delcaration.
Terry County remains in the moderate drought category with some parts in the severe drought category.
The County can ban “skyrockets with sticks,” according to the legal language on the order.
People are urged to use extra caution when using fireworks during this time. It is so dry and much of the ground is covered in dry grass or stubble and will burn quickly.
A budget transfer was approved for Precinct 2, as were a few line-item transfers.
Reports were read and approved.
The next Commissioners Court will be held on Monday, December 28, at 9 a.m. in the Basement Meeting Room of the Courthouse.
