The Cubs are looking to finish their regular season with a win on Friday as they face Lamesa at home. This will be Senior Night for the 10 Cub Seniors on the team.
Cub Head Coach Aarrhon Flores is looking for a good game. “They will come ready to battle. I know Coach Hood (Lamesa Head Coach) and respect him. I know he will have his boys ready to play.”
Lamesa likes to “throw tricks out there,” according to Flores. “He likes to do the unexpected, so we have told our boys to expect the unexpected on every play. Just be ready.”
Lamesa will try to control the game with their running game. The run the ball probably 80% of the time.
Flores says their special teams are dangerous. “They like the big plays. We will have to be ready.”
The Cubs have worked hard this week and they are ready to play sound football, according to Flores. “We have a balanced offense and have backs that can get us yards. We know we can score on them.”
Brownfield is already in the playoffs, but a win will give them third place and they will likely face Muleshoe. With a loss, it looks like Bushland will be the first game in the playoffs for the Cubs.
Lamesa is still battling to get in the playoffs, so look for a couple of teams with something to fight for on Friday.
