First Baptist Church of Brownfield will be hosting a Ladies Brunch in the Activities Center on Wednesday, May 19 at 10 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Kay Weldon Madaris, who is a retired missionary to Mexico.

Kay is from Texas and New Mexico, and was an Inlow camper for the first time in 1952. She continued to go to Inlow for years, as a counselor, camp nurse, and finally, as a missionary.

She is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University and Hendrick School of Nursing. As a missionary nurse with the Foreign Mission Board for 29 years, she served in Mexico with her husband Don.

She met Don after she was 40 years old. Don had been sent to Mexico for a short-term mission assignment. Five years later, they returned to Mexico together as a missionary couple. He served as a chaplain, and she served as a nurse in the Guadalajara Mission Hospital.

Her husband, Don passed away in 2015.

Kay is the author of “In the Shadow of Giants” a book about the early days of the Inlow Youth Camp.

The deadline to RSVP has passed, but you are welcome to attend and hear what Kay has to say.

There will be door prizes.
