A graveside service for Mavis Hix, 96, will be held at 10 am, Monday, July 20th, 2020, at Terry County Memorial Cemetery in Brownfield, TX with Rev. Chris Seaton officiating. Mavis will lie in state at Brownfield Funeral Home from 8 am to 9:30 am prior to the service on Monday. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.brownfieldfuneralhome.com.

Mavis passed away on July 14, 2020, in Brownwood, TX.  She was born in Chireno, TX on September 29, 1923, to Rube and Stella (Fults) Salter. She married Hugh L. Hix on February 12, 1970, in Brownfield and they had 23 years together before he passed away in 1993.  Mavis worked as an LVN in Hillsboro before moving to Brownfield in 1964.  She worked as an x-ray technician at the old hospital and was a cook at the new Brownfield Regional Medical Center.  She was a member of First Assembly of God and Abundant Harvest Community Church before she moved to Comanche and then Brownwood to be closer to her family.  

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, Rube and Stella; her husband, Hugh; 3 sisters, Ruby Salter, Linnie Coolbaugh, and Therma “Sis” Salter; and 2 brothers, Robert Salter and JD Salter.  She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
