United States:

  • Total infections: 1,228,609 (Up 24,134)
  • 190,741 recovered ( Up 950)
  • 73,431 deaths (Up 2,353)
  • Current mortality rate in U.S. is 6% (Up .1%) (Pending infections less than two weeks)
  • Numerous mutations to the Novel Corona virus have been identified, which is to be expected with any RNA virus. None of the changes identified have made the disease more deadly or more contagious, and so far have not affected vaccine research
  • “Silent Hypoxia” has been identified a common symptom of patients with severe COVID-19 disease. Patients present with low blood oxygen levels that should cause extreme distress or loss of consciousness, but instead have little or no symptoms. The reason COVID-19 causes silent hypoxia is still being studied.

Texas: 

  • 216 Texas counties reporting cases (No change)
  • No longer able to report community spread by county due to multiple reporting agencies and differing definitions by agency/county
  • Deaths: 954 (Up 29)
  • Total Texas Cases: 34,928 (Up 1,016)
  • Texas mortality rate is 2.7% (No change) (Pending infections less than two weeks)
  • 1,812 lab confirmed COVID-19 patients currently receiving hospital care (Down 76)
  • 9.2% of hospital beds of the 19,695 available in Texas are occupied by COVID-19 patients 
  • 17,622 Recovered (Up 831)
  • Incidence rate: 151.96 per 100,000 people in Texas have acquired COVID-19 (Up 4.42)

Regional:

  • 575 cases in Lubbock (Up 8)
  • 47 deaths from Covid-19 in Lubbock (Up 1)
  • 30 Covid-19 patients hospitalized in Lubbock county (Down 1)
  • 283 recovered in Lubbock County (Up 28)
  • There are more recovered than active cases in Lubbock county at this time
  • 700 Covid-19 cases in the South Plains (Up 9)
  • 339 Cases recovered on the South Plains (Up 14)
  • 12 diagnosed cases in Terry county (No change)
  • 9 Terry county case recovered (No change)
