United States:

  • Total infections: 245,601 (Up 28,879)
  • 9,228 recovered (Up 556)
  • 6,058 deaths (Up 921)
  • Current mortality rate in U.S. is 2.5% (up 0.1%)
  • U.S. mortality rate is trending up, despite increased testing criteria to find more cases
  • FDA has issued an emergency authorization for a coronavirus blood test. It is a serology test that would be able to identify past coronavirus infection, but may be less effective at identifying recent or active infection
  • Per the CDC as many as 25% of people infected with corona virus may not show symptoms, but are contagious. CDC reports this will make containment measures less effective and might explain why it is continuing to spread despite strict quarantine and social distancing measures.

Texas: 

  • 143 Texas counties reporting cases (Up 19)
  • No longer able to report community spread by county due to multiple reporting agencies and differing definitions by agency/county
  • Deaths: 86 (Up 18)
  • Total Texas Cases: 5,253 (Up 646)
  • Texas mortality rate is 1.6% (Up 0.1%)

Regional:

  • 117 cases in Lubbock at this time (up 9)
  • 3 deaths in Lubbock county
  • 26 Lubbock cases required hospitalization
  • 22.2% of Lubbock cases required hospitalization
  • 12 cases recovered in Lubbock
  • Lubbock: 20 cases confirmed community acquired, 23 under investigation
  • 143 confirmed cases on the South Plains (Up 1)
  • 4 cases in Terry county
