Making a Difference

“Therefore, we do not lose heart, though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-17

I was praying very hard this morning about what God wanted me to say in this time of so much uncertainty and so much worry and concern. As if worrying about the illness isn’t enough for us, many are worried about losing their jobs or, at least part of their income. It just seems to be enough to make us lose heart and let worry consume us. I asked God to show me a verse in His Word that I could use to bring hope to those who read this. I take what I do very seriously. I take being someone who shares God with the world extremely seriously and, each time I write for you, I want to be so very sure that it is God’s words that I am using and not my own.

I grabbed my Bible this morning and I started to open it as I was asking God to show me  His Word. It fell open to 2 Corinthians 4. Immediately I knew that God had indeed heard my prayer and the prayers of His people. It was designed by Him. It was His Word bringing hope.

It would be very easy to lose heart these days, but we have to, especially as Christians, fall back on His promises. We have to look around us and recognize that, yes things look pretty bad right now, but also yes! We have a Savior who knew this day would come and He has already written today’s page in our book. He knows. He knows that this seems terrible right now, but look at what He calls it. “A light affliction.” He says this “light affliction” is producing an eternal glory beyond description. Quit looking at what you see around you, but focus on what God sees in all this. And why? Because what we see around us is only temporary, but the things we have in God are eternal.

Is your faith in God today? Have you put your trust in Him? Have you asked His Son to live in your heart? Oh my goodness! Today is the day if you have not! Now is the time! We have no clue what tomorrow holds, but, as the song says, we know who holds tomorrow! Does it not make sense to trust all our tomorrows to the One who created us? To the One who knows what tomorrow holds? Now more than ever before in your life, it is time to trust the Savior.

On further down in 2 Corinthians 5, it says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” And this is the very thing that will make the difference for you today! Trust Him!
