The city council commenced for a regularly scheduled meeting on December 5th, 2019.
First on the agenda was the approval of approximately 1,802 dollars as a payment to the hotel lodging association for advertising. It is the same price as last year. No council member objected to this motion.
Next was regarding the cities technology services. Last year the budget was at 40,000 dollars. As of today’s date, we still have approximately 7,000 dollars remaining out of this year’s capital crunch. This remaining budget will go towards “IT” services for the city of Brownfield. Assistant city manager, Jeff Davis, recommended the consideration of an integrated IT support which offers cybersecurity. All council members were in favor of this motion.
Furthermore was the promotion of assistant city manager, Jeff Davis, to be the city manager. The vote for this motion was unanimous. Jeff Davis responded with gratitude for the opportunity bestowed upon him.
After the recognition of Brownfield’s new city manager was the appointment of a new assistant city manager. Jeff Davis recommended that the open position be granted to Kelly Burris. Kelly Burris has worked for the city of Brownfield since 2009. The motion to promote her to assistant city manager had no objections.
The city council then went into an executive session where they deliberated the duties upon the new city manager and assistant city manager.
