Terry Commissioners Court Meets, Sheriffs Annual Summary Looks Good

The Terry County Commisioners Court met Monday morning. The Agenda was light, however the Sheriffs Office gave the annual summary report for 2017.

The Sheriffs Office and county jail brought in $747,117.00 for income from housing. Three counties paid for housing at the Terry County Jail. Hockley County paid $107,552.00, Ector and Tom Green counties paid combined $97,285.00. Two federal entities paid for housing as well, with the U.S. Marshall’s paying in $502,280.00 and the Beareu of Prisons paid $40,000.00.

Other income for the jail was $58,376.50. Inmate telephone services was $20,085.53, federal travel income was $19,292.76. With civil processing, bond fees and other items there was $18,998.21 for income. That brought the total amount of income to $805,493.50 for the sheriffs office and jail.

With expenses, food cost was the highest at $354,898.49 and that served 110,737 meals through 2017. Utilities for the sheriffs office and jail $87,905.19 with medical expenses at $55,164.57. Maintenance and office there was $26,127.65 in expenses.

Average daily jail population with all entities was 110. Terry County inmate average daily popultion was fifty-seven, with male inmates having fifty and females with seven on a daily average.

There were seventy-two reported offenses and forty-four cleared giving a sixty-one percent clearance rate. The amount of property stolen in terms of monetary worth, there was $173,084.00. The recovery of property was $120,435.20 giving a sixty-nine percent clearance rate.

Sheriff Larry Gilbreath noting that 2017 was a good year. The court adjourned and the next meeting will be held on February 5th, 2018 at 10:00am.
