Betty Jean Fillingim

Betty Jean Fillingim of New Home went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 21, 2017 surrounded by family.

She was born October 25, 1929 in the Lakeview community near Petersburg, Texas to Fannie Mae (Wood) and Ono Parr and continued to be raised in love by Bob and Ruby Asbell. She attended New Home and Meadow schools and graduated high school in Eunice, New Mexico. She then married her lifelong best friend and love of her life, A. C. Fillingim, Jr. on January 25, 1948.

Family was everything to Betty. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-parents; sister, Linda; and brother, John. She is survived by her husband, A.C., and their four children: Wayne and wife Vicki of Brownfield, Kenny and wife Carol of Lubbock, Jimmy and wife Tara of Hamlin, Cheryl and husband Steve Mason of Midland and three sisters, Pat, Cody, and Mary. She proudly doted on her 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren

Betty enjoyed using her talents to sew, quilt, and serve her family and community of New Home Baptist Church and previously Lakeview Baptist Church. Her faith was the cornerstone of all she did. She leaves a legacy of love and faith to her entire family.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, with the family receiving friends 5:00-7:00 p.m. Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 at New Home Baptist Church with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
