Pumpkin Party! at Plains Yoakum County Library StoryTime

by Eric

Wednesday, October 26, 2016, saw a few costumed cuties and many munchies at the Yoakum County Library Plains for the StoryTime pumpkin party.

After pledges and the discussion of the weather and calendar, the children sang “Days of the Week.”

The first book shared with the group was “Piggies in the Pumpkin Patch,” which bridged last week’s topic of farms to this week’s theme of pumpkins. Because the piggies in the book got stung by a bee, “I’m Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee” was a natural song to follow. The second book was “Duck and Goose Find a Pumpkin” by Tad Hills. The song “Five Little Monkeys” with the monkey and alligator puppets provided a fun transition. The group then discussed the Texas state squash: the pumpkin.

The last book was “Pick a Circle, Gather Squares.” The group was shown foam shapes and then identified the corresponding shape on the pages of the book. The video clip was from “Guess How Much I Love You.”

Those in attendance were Alan Morales; Kayla Lopez; Aspen, Elijah, Tabitha, Selah, Kefira, & Gabe Blessing; Rhea Hoecker; Penny & Max Landry; Trevor Prince; Payton Blair; Abigail, Lanie, & Hope Simpson; Joseph Pruitt; Jazmine Loera; and Case Bearden.

All ages are welcome at the Family StoryTime, which meets weekly at the Yoakum County Library in Plains at 10:00 am each Wednesday.
