Nita Jean Marchbanks

marchbanksNita Jean Marchbanks was born on Oct. 28, 1927, in Brownfield to J.B. and Edna Warsham.

She graduated from Brownfield High School where she met her future husband N.R. Bill Marchbanks, Jr. They were married on March 20, 1944, and were the love of each others lives for 71 years. She worked as a telephone operator and carried a STAR mail route early in her marriage, and then became a full time Mom. Nita loved to play bridge, knit, cook, and take care of her family. She was a member of First Baptist church of Brownfield. She loved the Lord, going to church and reading her bible daily.

Nita went to be with her Lord on Sept. 23, 2016 after a five-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She will be missed by all her family. She is survived by her only child, John Marchbanks and his wife, Vicki; two grandchildren, Nicole Crain and her husband, Matt, and Ryan Marchbanks and his wife, Hilary; four grandsons, Gus Crain, Dub Crain, Ridley Marchbanks, and Ryder Marchbanks.

There will be a viewing at the Brownfield Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m., and then a graveside service on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the Old Brownfield Cemetery. The Rev. Hilary Marchbanks will officiate. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
