February is a month of new beginnings for Tonia Newsom.

Tonia recently joined the staff of Ad Venture Marketing as a Business Developer. Her primary responsibility is advertising sales and business promotion, including sales for TownTalk Radio.

“I’m excited to be back in the world of sales,” Tonia said. “I am really excited about how TownTalk Radio is involved in trying to promote the community and Terry County. They think that is important and so do I. I think rural living is trying to make a comeback, and I think it is important to promote the businesses in our community the best they can be. This is our home and I love it here.”

And her message to the local businesses? “I just want to do whatever I can to help promote their business through the fast-developing world of Internet advertising.”

Tonia said she also is fond of TownTalk’s heavy involvement in supporting the agricultural community through such programs as Ag Update with Gina Ellis and hopes to be involved on some level with the show. A 1980 graduate of Brownfield High School, Tonia and her husband Larry have been involved in farming for 31 years.

“I got involved with farming when I got married and I love it. It has become a large part of my life. My kids are involved in it, too, and that makes it even more interesting to me. My son Tate is a farmer with land in both Terry and Hockley counties. My daughter Morgan lives in Lubbock and works for Texas Grain Sorghum Producers. My other daughter Mallorie is a senior at Oklahoma University and is studying communications. She also wants to be involved in the agriculture industry.”

February also saw Tonia become a first-time grandmother. Summit June Newsom, the daughter of Tate and his wife Rhiannon, was born Feb. 6.

“The feeling is indescribable. There are no words for it,” she said. “It’s also great seeing your kids become parents, too.”
