Tie vote stalls action on City Attorney
A rare tie vote during the Brownfield City Council meeting Thursday morning stalled the city’s attempt to hire an attorney.
Originally, current interim City Attorney Lina Trevino received four votes to candidate Bill McGowan II’s three votes. However, Mayor Bob Simpson cast a vote to tie the count at 4-4. The Mayor is allowed to vote at his discretion, according to the city charter.
The council then decided to open the bid process again and address the item at a future meeting.
