Below is a letter received from Assistant Director W. Nim Kidd, CEM® of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Chief, Texas Division of Emergency Management.

Texas Emergency Management Coordinators: 

I’m writing to you today after a long weekend of firefighting. There are several articles from newspapers across the state about fires that destroyed and damaged many homes this weekend. Many of the articles stated that residents of the subdivisions near the area where the fires broke out indicated they did not know what to do when wildfire threatened their neighborhood. 

I encourage you to use our resources to build wildfire awareness and help your residents get prepared in the event a fire threatens their property. Below are links that provide information that local leaders can use to inform and educate residents.
