A pair of athletic events will take place this weekend for the Brownfield High School athletic programs.

The Brownfield Cub football squads will travel to Floydada Friday night for a series of scrimmages against the Whirlwinds. The scrimmages, originally scheduled for Saturday, will begin with the junior varsity at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7 p.m.

Friday morning the Brownfield Lady Cubs take to the court in the Denver City Invitational Volleyball Tournament. The Lady Cubs will be in pool play all day Friday, beginning with a match against Plains at 10;30 a.m., followed by a match against Kermit at noon. They will play Estacado at 3 p.m.

The Lady Cubs’ schedule for Saturday will be determined by their results in Friday’s pool play.
