64th Annual Terry County Harvest Festival

The 64th Annual Terry County Harvest Festival will be held on October 1, 2011. This is the big event for Terry County. Some years we celebrate a good harvest and in other years, like this one, we look forward with hope for next year. But, either way the Harvest Festival is a time to have fun, visit with old friends and eat!

The Harvest Festival, with a theme this year of “Sparkles and Spurs”, actually kicks off with the Harvest Festival Queen Talent Show on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 7:00pm. This will be held in the Brownfield Middle School Auditorium. This year’s Harvest Festival Queen Contestants are; M’Kayla Pauda – ATUC, Gabriella Aviles – BHS Booster Club, Brittney Hogg – Evening Lions, Lexi Willis – Optimist Club, Summer Brock – Rotary Club, and Lindsey Pevey – Sheriff’s Posse. The Talent Show is an opportunity for the Queen contestants to strut their stuff as they compete in evening gown competition, as well as answering a question on stage, and of course their talent. Along with the Queens’ performances, their will also be local talent in the show. There are always rousing dance routines offered by local dance students, and also wonderful local singers. Much time and practice goes into putting on this Talent Show, so don’t miss out on this spectacular event.

On Friday evening, September 3rd, Shelly Lares will be performing at the Park Amphitheater at 7:00. Shelly is an award winning Tejano artist. We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to have her in Brownfield. This should be a really good concert.

On Saturday morning at 10:00 AM, the Harvest Festival Parade begins. This parade travels through downtown Brownfield and slowly winds its way down to the park for the day’s festivities. During the day at the park, one can find virtually anything to eat from hot dogs to burritos, from turkey legs to hamburgers, from enchiladas to roasted corn on the cob. And the sweet treats that are available will tempt anyone! Funnel Cakes, Fried Pies, Fried Snickers, the list goes on and on. Also, there will be game booths as well as booths selling various items. This year the Colton Lee Burran Scholarship Committee will have a booth with their items available for silent auction.

Throughout the day, there will be entertainment offered at the Amphitheater Also, during the day names will be drawn for a huge variety of prizes offered. And, as always, the Queen Contestants will be around selling last minute tickets.

At 7:00  pm, the Queen Coronation will be held at the Park Amphitheater. This is always a big event, with lots of people in attendance. Miss Congeniality will be announced as well as the runners-up to Queen. The final drawing will be made for the winner of the Harvest Festival Grand Prize, $2000.00 in Brownfield Bucks.

Don’t miss a single minute of this year’s Harvest Festival! From Sparkles to Spurs, there is something for everyone.
