5th Annual Meadow Mile Looking for Sponsors

The Meadow Mile was created to raise money for improvements and needs in Meadow, Texas. This year the proceeds will help purchase new equipment for the Meadow Volunteer Fire Department.

The Meadow Mile consists of a .5K Fun Run for ages six and under, a 1 Mile Run/Walk and a 5K Run/Walk. All ages and fitness levels are invited. Strollers and pets (on a leash, please) are welcome, as are teams. Prizes are given to the top three males and females in age groups 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18, 19-29, 30-39, 4-59, and 60+ in the 5K. Prizes are also given to the top three elementary, teen, adult men and adult women runners in the 1 Mile event. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, April 20, with registration beginning at 8am, the .5K Fun Run at 9 and the 5K an 1 Mile at 9:15. Although participants can register and pay ($15) the day of the race, registration is encouraged by April 10 for a guaranteed t-shirt.

The 2009 Meadow Mile raised $3,500 toward the school’s electronic marquee. In addition, there were nearly 200 participants for the run/walk. In 2010 the Meadow Mile registered 360 people, and $4,520 was split between The Meadow Musical and The Jessie Mendez Medical Benefit Fund. The 2011 Meadow Mile raised $4,200 toward the completion of the Meadow Museum Expansion Project. Registrations totaling 280 in 2011 helped make for another successful Meadow Mile. Last year a record breaking $6,000 was designated toward a community basketball court, and 300 people came to Meadow to support The Mile. The court should be complete by April.

Meadow Mile Organizer, Monica Caswell, invites businesses to become a Business Sponsor for this year’s race. The donation is an advertising investment and shows the Meadow community that they are appreciated as clients and customers in the business.

This year sponsors will have their names displayed on the electronic marquee in front of the Meadow schools and on the back of the t-shirts. Sponsor donations, along with participants’ $15 registration fees, will also provide prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers of the 1 Mile and 5K in each age bracket. Door prizes will be drawn when all races are finished.
