Our Parks Look Great!

When the fifty-year-old swimming pool  was upgraded to the Family Aquatic Center a few years back, Brownfield went up several notches on the quality of life scale.  Next came disc golf. The scale went higher. I decided to check out the new Brownfield Skate Park for myself this afternoon and give you my “humble” opinion. My analysis—add a few more notches to that scale.

No, I don’t do skateboarding, but I know people who do and I’ve seen their eyes sparkle when they started telling me about it. The placement next to the pool enhances the park entrance and draws visitors in to see what else the park has to offer. I don’t know if they are going to keep the sand volleyball lot as is or not; they had equipment there. But, I think it’s a great fit.

For those who lamented moving the basketball court inside the park, take a look. It’s right where our RV travelers can easily go shoot a few hoops. I think it will make our RV park more attractive to them and they will want to come back to Brownfield to stay again.

By the time I finish this blog, the court will be ready for play. The city workers were putting the last goal up when I was there.

Next to be added to the park is a horseshoe pit near the basketball court. Fun for all ages!

I hope more tables and spectator areas will go up so the park will be a real family-oriented one. The three f’s—food, fun, family. There are times I might just like to go watch the fun myself.

If you see Scott Jackson or one of the city workers, please thank them for all the work they have done.  What makes Brownfield look better makes us citizens look better too—and I don’t know about you, but I can take all the “look better” I can get.
