It’s Finally Happening!
Men are still playing in the dirt at the park across from the Chamber of Commerce. After what seems like a forever, progress is being made again. I say again because I’ve thought that many times.
It’s been take the dirt out, load it on trucks and get rid of it. No, bring the dirt back on those trucks. Fill the ditch with piles of dirt to stay a while.
Now, get a bunch of planners and workers to stand around looking and discussing. Yipee! Something is going to be done to finish the torn up park. Wait. No. Let’s just grow weeds for a while.
More workers come. Now they are smoothing the dirt. Pause. Another day, workers are again moving the dirt around. Does it go here or there? It looks like no one knows.
But, today, January 11, progress is being made. Once again the dirt is being moved, but this time the boards are being set in place for the path.
Will the park be finished soon? I have to withhold even a guess on that. Maybe the workers will add the next step. Maybe they will take the boards down and put them up again or move more dirt. It is in such a noticeable location at the intersection of the Lubbock and Tahoka highways that I just hope the park gets finished soon. (If not, it is prime property for a business.)
