I Can’t Wait till the Super Bowl…commercials, that is
How many times do you just tune out TV commercials or fast forward through them? Not to say that they are all bad! The Super Bowl is coming up this Sunday, February 5, in Indianapolis and corporations have been battling it out ever since last year’s game to come up with the best commercials possible.
They don’t seem to mind paying huge amounts of money for the few seconds it takes to put them on either. Commentators, sports fans and non-sports fans alike have been talking about who might have the best spots this year. Last year Volkswagen’s Darth Vader Kid won public approval hands down. And it only cost $3 million for the 30 second spot! This year I understand that 30 second spots are going for $3.5 million. Spending that much, one would think that the production would be spectacular also. And, many have had that reputation.
If Texas teams are playing, I’m with friends watching just to be with friends, or someone I know something about is playing, I will watch the game. However, I usually just listen for commercials and otherwise visit with other not-so-into-it friends, read or surf the net during the plays.
I guess my Super Bowl experience won’t be the same any more though. Sponsors have already put their commercials on internet or have put out teasers of them. That kind of ruins the anticipation for me.
SPOILER ALERT! I have already checked the commercials out. My favorite at this point is Audi. A happy vampire shows up at a party with his non-alcoholic but gross “keg” only to…. Well, I won’t spoil it for you, but I will say that it made me laugh. I’ll be anxious to see what your favorite commercial is after the Super Bowl.
So, until then, go…. Who is it playing this year? They played before? Hum…Time to get back on the internet!
