obit_placeholder_06On Oct. 8, 2016, Alan Mike Weatherford completed his rich and remarkable life.

His family, friends, and colleagues treasured his integrity and curiosity, his kindness and his willingness to help others. He embraced new adventures with enthusiasm, good humor, and joy.

Mike was born on Sept. 22, 1958, to Doyle and Neomia Weatherford in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated high school from Lubbock Monterey in 1977 and immediately began working with Lubbock EMS as a Paramedic straight out of high school. While raising kids and working full time, he went back to South Plains College to earn his RN licensure. He spent the next approximate 10 years at UMC working in the Burn Unit, Surgical ICU, and running their Emergency Department.

God opened doors to begin his career at Covenant Medical Center in 2005 and he never looked back. He worked in Cardiac ICU, the Emergency Department, and was a house supervisor at both hospitals for the last three years. He was known for always lending a helping hand and caring whole heartedly for his staff members and the people around him.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and is survived by the following family members: wife, Terri Weatherford, of Brownfield, Brandon and Katie Weatherford of Slaton, Amanda and Kyle Sisson and their daughters, Millie and Kaleigh of Ropesville, Karen and TJ McCown and their daughters, Kasey, Kinsey, and DJ of Lubbock and El Paso, Courtney Pye and Matthew Flores of Lubbock, and many other cousins and family members in the surrounding Lubbock area.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the veteran program of your choice. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Resthaven on the corner of 19th and Frankford. The Memorial service will then be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Lubbock on 82nd Street just west of Slide Road.
