Leslie Coy Lowrey PLAINS-Funeral service for Leslie Coy Lowrey, 68, will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Plains with Reverend Ken Horn officiating with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City. Coy Lowrey passed peacefully after a lengthy illness on Feb. 22, 2015, in Lubbock. Coy was born on Aug. 6, 1946, in Brownfield, Texas, to Carl and Ferne Lowrey, the third of four brothers. Coy graduated from Plains High School in 1965. On Sep. 10, 1971, he married Janice Whisenhunt. They had two children, Shana and Chad. Coy farmed in Tokio and also worked for Pate and Basic out of Denver City. Coy was preceded in death by his parents and his son. He is survived by his three brothers and their families, Roy and Hazel Lowrey of Plains, Jerry and Del Lowrey of Lubbock and Melvin Lowrey of Lubbock; his daughter, Shana Keeton and her husband Lyle of Wolfforth, daughter-in-law, Shelly Lowrey of Denver City; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Coy’s name to the Chad Lowrey Memorial Scholarship at 810 E. Broadway, Denver City, Texas 79323 or the American Cancer Society at 811 Central Drive, Odessa, Texas, 79761-4200. Family and friends visitation will be Sunday, March 1, 2015, at 2 to 4 P.M. in the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel in Denver City.
